====== Setting up a new site ====== ===== Dreamweaver 8 - CS4 ===== - Go to the Site Menu - Click "New Site" - Go to the "Basic" Tab" - Enter a Name for your site. - Enter the web address (e.g. http://aes.wcs.k12.va.us) - Click Next - Do you want to work with server technology, "No" - "How do you want to work with files?" Select edit local copies on my machine. - Click Next. - "How do you connect?" Choose FTP. - What is the hostname? Enter ftp.wcs.k12.va.us - What folder? Enter nothing. - FTP login? this is your publishing account name - FTP password? Enter your password. - Test the connection if connected to the network. - Click Next. - Do you want to enable checking in and out files. Say No. - Click Next - Click Done. ===== Dreamweaver CS5/CS5.5 ===== - Got to the Site Menu - Click "New Site" - Enter a name for your site in "Site Name" - Local Site Folder should have a name that matches a folder in your Documents folder on Windows or your Sites folder on OS X. (e.g. C:\Users\cedwards\Documents\Sites\www.wcs.k12.va.us) - Click "Servers" on the left. - Click the + Sign to add a new server - Make sure "Connect using" is set to FTP - In "Server Name" and "FTP Address" enter ftp.wcs.k12.va.us - In "FTP Address" enter ftp.wcs.k12.va.us - In "Username" enter your publishing account name - In "Password" Enter your password. - Test the Connection - In "Web URL" put in the web address of your site (e.g. http://aes.wcs.k12.va.us) - Click Save - Click Save
