Setting up a new site

Dreamweaver 8 - CS4

  1. Go to the Site Menu
  2. Click "New Site"
  3. Go to the "Basic" Tab"
  4. Enter a Name for your site.
  5. Enter the web address (e.g. http://aes.wcs.k12.va.us)
  6. Click Next
  7. Do you want to work with server technology, "No"
  8. "How do you want to work with files?" Select edit local copies on my machine.
  9. Click Next.
  10. "How do you connect?" Choose FTP.
  11. What is the hostname? Enter ftp.wcs.k12.va.us
  12. What folder? Enter nothing.
  13. FTP login? this is your publishing account name
  14. FTP password? Enter your password.
  15. Test the connection if connected to the network.
  16. Click Next.
  17. Do you want to enable checking in and out files. Say No.
  18. Click Next
  19. Click Done.

Dreamweaver CS5/CS5.5

  1. Got to the Site Menu
  2. Click "New Site"
  3. Enter a name for your site in "Site Name"
  4. Local Site Folder should have a name that matches a folder in your Documents folder on Windows or your Sites folder on OS X. (e.g. C:\Users\cedwards\Documents\Sites\www.wcs.k12.va.us)
  5. Click "Servers" on the left.
  6. Click the + Sign to add a new server
  7. Make sure "Connect using" is set to FTP
  8. In "Server Name" and "FTP Address" enter ftp.wcs.k12.va.us
  9. In "FTP Address" enter ftp.wcs.k12.va.us
  10. In "Username" enter your publishing account name
  11. In "Password" Enter your password.
  12. Test the Connection
  13. In "Web URL" put in the web address of your site (e.g. http://aes.wcs.k12.va.us)
  14. Click Save
  15. Click Save
