Homebased and Homebound and Home Ed

Beginning with 2024, Home Ed is a service for Non-ISAEP students to receive Homebased Services. Use 9991 for this Serving School.

BEGINNING WITH THE 2019-20 SCHOOL YEAR WE WILL NEED TO CREATE A SEPARATE ENROLLMENT RECORD FOR THE TIME THAT A STUDENT IS PLACED ON HOMEBOUND (Medical reasons) OR HOMEBASED (Administrative Homebound / Disciplinary reasons).

Official paperwork must be referenced for the exact start and end dates of the Homebased/Homebound enrollments. Please coordinate with Principals, Special Services, Enrollment clerks, Guidance, and Attendance clerks to ensure this information is accurate.

We must handle Homebound and Homebased students in the following ways to maintain their current schedules while they are being tutored away from the classroom. Remember, these students still need to have a schedule assigned to them and grades collected for them.

If a student enters into Homebound/Homebased on the first day of the school year (or their first day of school for the year),
DO NOT create a new line of enrollment if they already have a record in the new year. Note that they might be previously entered as a No Show enrollment.
Follow these instructions: How to create a first day enrollment.

If a student enters into Homebound/Homebased on their first day of enrollment following a transfer into our district, enroll them as you would any other student then simply add Homebound or Homebased to the end of the entry comment and adjust the Serving Division and Serving School accordingly.
Example:
VCU Medical Center, VA - Homebound
If a student's official homebound/homebased start date is on or before the first day of school, they do not have to show up to school. As far as the student's start date of school (when he actually returns after being at VCU Medical Center), it would need to be whatever day he shows up for classes.

If a student enters into Homebound/Homebased after their first day of enrollment, you must create a new line of enrollment.
Follow these instructions: How to create a second enrollment.

If a student receives a PRIMARY DISABILITY enrollment while in Homebound/Homebased, SPECIAL SERVICES will create a new line of enrollment while maintaining the Homebound/Homebased Serving Division and Serving School.

If a student returns to School from Homebound/Homebased, you must create a new line of enrollment.
Follow these instructions: How to create a returning enrollment.

If a student transfers to a School outside of the District from Homebound/Homebased, withdraw them as you would any other student.

Finally, confirm the enrollment and attendance dates match. Confirm with the official paperwork for the exact dates of the Homebased/Homebound enrollment.
Follow these instructions: How to address the HMB attendance.

====== Searches ======

To locate all your active Homebound/Homebased students, use the following search (this depends on the proper information being entered into the Entry and Exit Comments):
transferComment contains homeb

To locate all your active and inactive Homebound/Homebased students, use the following search:
/transferComment contains homeb; entrydate >= FIRSTDAYofSCHOOL
Note:
This search will not find the enrollments for the previous parts of the school year. This is only able to look at the TransferComment of the current enrollment.

Or use the Attendance Count report to find all students with at least one of the HMB or HBS attendance codes.
Note: This search will not find the students without the HMB or HBS attendance codes recorded on the Attendance page.
