When a student is retained and not promoted to the next grade, several steps need to be followed during the summer break:

1. On the State/Province-VA page, set the Retained flag to Yes
2. On the Transfer Info page, add Retained to the Previous Enrollment's Exit Comment
3. Also add Retained to the Current Enrollment's Entry Comment
4. On the Scheduling Setup page, set the Next Year Grade and Next School Indicator to the previous settings so the student will be scheduled appropriately and not be promoted to the next grade
