This is an old revision of the document!

This document will try to address the use of SASIxp to export information for use by the DOS Phonemaster computer located at several schools across Washington County. It will cover the most common examples of the use of the software.

Setting up Phonemaster to Call Absentees

From a desktop computer with SASIxp:

  1. Open the Phone Dialer Atom. This atom can be found in SASI Modules/Attendance.
  2. Select a date range. These dates must be during a school year. You will not be able to proceed with using the Phone Dialer if the date you perform these actions doesn't fall within the school year. You will be unable to select a date range.
  3. Click the Select Students button.
  4. Click the Add All button under the left hand column. All students should be in the right hand column now.
  5. Cick the Done button.
  6. Select the starting and ending grades. This will be the lowest grade and the highest grade served by the school.
  7. Make sure Phone Dialer Type is set to Phonemaster v3.xx.
  8. Check the Use Absences box.
  9. Place the number of absences in the box that appears. This will typically be 1 absence.
  10. Check the 10 Digit Local Numbers box.
  11. Click the OK button. A Save File Dialog window will appear.
  12. From Save In the drop down box at the top of the window, select F:, then Double-click SASIxp
  13. In the box labeled File name: type: absences.lst
  14. Click the Save button. If a message appears stating that the file already exists, press 'Yes'. This message should appear on a daily basis.
  15. A progress bar will be displayed with the words Processing student records above it. Once it has finished, click the Close button.

Your absentee list has now been placed on the network. The next step will be to pull this list from the network to the Phonemaster computer.

From the Phonemaster Computer (Installed Pre-2006):

This computer is not powered by Windows, but by DOS. All operations must be done with a keyboard rather than a mouse. At this point, I will assume the computer is waiting for calls or is finished processing absentees from the night before. If this is not the case, please see the following section, Troubleshooting.

  1. Press the X key to go back to the Main Phonemaster Menu.
  2. Press the ESC key to exit back to the Computer Menu.
  3. Press the 1 key and press the Enter or Return key to copy all number lists from SASIxp. This gets the updated lists that you exported in the first section. You should see a list of files copied that correspond to the lists that have been exported from SASIxp. If you get an error, see the next section called Troubleshooting.
  4. Press the 2 key and press the Enter or Return key to go back into the Main Phonemaster Menu.
  5. Press the C key to choose Call lists.
  6. You will see a list of call lists. If you see one called absences:
    1. Press the D key to delete a list.
    2. Type absences and press the Enter or Return key.
    3. Press the Y key.
  7. Press the N key to add a new list.
  8. Type absences for the message name and press the Enter or Return key.
  9. Type absences for the number list and press the Enter or Return key.
  10. Press the N key for no response.
  11. Press the N key for normal priority.
  12. Press the X key to return to the Main Phonemaster Menu.
  13. Press the A key to select autocalling.
  14. Press the B key to begin autocalling.
