Update Seats for Classxp

Update Seats

You would typically run update seats every day or so for the first couple of weeks of the year. For the rest of the year, if the School atom is set to “Classxp real-time updates”, you will only need to update seats if you run into a problem where a student is missing from a teacher’s class.

  1. Double-click on your “Classxp” icon and log on. You MUST run this from Classxp NOT SASI. All other users should logout to ensure this runs correctly.
  2. Double-click on “SASI Modules”.
  3. Double-click on the “Classroom” folder.
  4. Double-click on “Update Seats”.
  5. Select the current term under “Term”.
  6. Click “Update Existing Classroom Seat File”.
  7. Click on “Update”. This process will take a few minutes depending on the number of students in the school.
  8. Once the process is finished it will tell you “Update Seats has run successfully”. Click “OK”. If you get an error message saying “Update Seats Failed”, make sure everyone is out of Classxp and try again. If it still fails, contact the SASI administrator at the central office.

Create Seats

Before the school year begins, you need to do a “Create seats” instead of an “Update seats”. You will also need to do a create seats whenever a new section is created. At the beginning of the year, you should wait to do this until you update SASI for all new teachers and all new sections have been created, if possible.

  1. Double-click on your “Classxp” icon and log on. You MUST run this from Classxp NOT SASI. All users will need to be out of any scheduling atoms when you run this for it to work successfully.
  2. Double-click on “SASI Modules”.
  3. Double-click on the “Classroom” folder
  4. Double-click on “Update Seats”.
  5. Select “All Terms” term under “Term”.
  6. Click “Create New Classroom Seat File”.
  7. Click on “Create”.
