Assigning Students to ReNew Ed
Before adjusting the students record when entering ReNew Ed please note:
The student's school of enrollment is responsible for updating student schedules when they are assigned to the Renew Ed program. Meaning, they must drop their current classes and enroll them in the ReNew Ed classes.
Their enrollment record should remain at their home school without any change (meaning no extra line of enrollment is needed).
They should be scheduled to a Roll Call (with the ReNew Ed teacher as the lead teacher) at their HOME SCHOOL for attendance purposes.
The host school must let the ReNew Ed teacher know that they have to switch schools in PowerTeacher in order to record each students absences.
The home school and ReNew Ed host school (AES, GSMS, PHHS) should work together to schedule the student in classes at the HOST SCHOOL that are assigned to the ReNew Ed teacher. This is similar to CTE classes at the WCCTEC and Interchange students. The host school must provide the course and section numbers necessary to schedule the student.
It's not necessary to schedule the students in exploratories while assigned to ReNew Ed.
Scheduling ReNew Ed Students in Roll Call for Attendance Purposes
Follow these instructions to track and record their attendance:
Find the Roll Call section and note the course and section number (the number before the 6 digit number in parentheses).
Go to the student's record, then to Courses and Programs > Modify Course Schedule > and enter the students first day of ReNew Ed in the Effective Enrollment Date field.
In Quick Enroll, enter the course.section number in that format.
Click on Enroll.
Update the Homeroom Teacher's name on the Modify Info page each time a student's homeroom class changes.
Check each of your ReNew Ed student's attendance continuously to ensure the Daily Attendance is recorded properly as changes can be made throughout the term.
Scheduling a ReNew Ed Student in courses
Follow these instructions to schedule them in the ReNew Ed teachers courses for grading purposes:
Get the course and section numbers assigned to the ReNew Ed teacher from the host school. The host school must create any section needed if they don't already exist.
Go to the student's record, then to Courses and Programs and select Remote and Summer School Registration
Select the School Where Class is Held (i.e. AES or GSMS or PHHS)
On the Course line, enter the course name, then select the appropriate course number from the drop down
For the Section, select the section for the ReNew Ed teacher (should be the only option)
For the Enrollment Date, enter the student's start date in the Renew Ed program
Click Submit
Once the student is scheduled in the classes at the ReNew Ed school, drop ALL of their current classes at their home school. These classes can be rescheduled when they return.
Upon their return from ReNew Ed drop those classes once grades have been recorded in the teachers gradebook and stored in the student Historical Course Grades page (if after the quarter).
Notice: We are waiting for an answer about Exploratories because students have requirements for the number of minutes in a PE class. We were originally told in earlier conversations that they wouldn't be attending any Exploratories while in ReNew Ed. However, AES is now saying that depending on the student's behavior, they sometimes participate in the Exploratory classes.
